'Cheltenham Literature Festival is the world’s first literature festival, leading the way in celebrating the written and spoken word, presenting the best new voices in fiction and poetry alongside literary greats and high-profile speakers, while inspiring over 9,000 school children with a love of books through its Literature for Schools programme. ' Normally held Mid October.

'Cheltenham Poetry Festival offers an annual 10 day program of exciting live literature events. As well as the Spring programme, the Festival celebrates the power of words throughout the year at readings, performances and workshops.'

'How long is a piece of string? What makes the world turn? And why does chocolate taste so good? Nothing is off limits at Cheltenham Science Festival. Every year we are joined by the world’s greatest scientists, futurologists and thought-leaders to help make sense of the world around us.'  Normally held Early June.

'The Cotswold Astronomical Society serves amateur astronomers in the Cotswold area centered on Cheltenham and Gloucester. Local membership reaches to Swindon, Evesham and Worcester too.We welcome anyone interested in astronomy. Our members come from all walks of life and range from beginners just starting out to experienced amateurs with a wealth of knowledge. Members have varied interests from cosmology to telescope making, from lunar and planetary observing, to supernova hunting. Not all members are active observers, and the society caters equally well for the armchair or internet astronomer ... We hold monthly meetings in Cheltenham, often with a guest speaker.'

'Since the mid 1980’s Gloucestershire Philosophical Society have held meetings on a variety of topics. We aim to provide a forum for debate on issues of current interest alongside informative lectures from specialists in many areas of philosophical, political, social, scientific and artistic thought. Our meetings are open to both the academic and wider community. We warmly welcome new members, so why not come along and offer your opinions.'
