Overview

'Founded in 1958 by a group of local historians to encourage research into the local history of Banbury town and its hinterland. We have around 200 members, mostly local but some scattered far and wide. Our annual programme of activities runs from September to July, with lectures from September through to Easter and then a varied programme of outings and expeditions in the summer. We meet for the lectures at 7.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month.'

'The Aims of the Society are to increase our appreciation of Sibfords' past and present and to preserve the evidence remaining to us for future generations. Membership is £9 per annum and free to school children. Free tea, coffee and biscuits are served at all the meetings ... Visitors are always welcome at a cost of £1 if they don't join the Society.'
