'French Clubs affiliated to and with talks supported by Alliance Française de Londres. Please note that admission to events organised by French Circles are entirely a matter for them and the Alliance Francaise de Londres is not responsible for or involved in admission policies to events.' (Note I have added a small number of Localities hosting 'French Clubs' but not referenced in the AFL List at the time of Review.)

Category Rail Transport

'The Great Western Society exists to preserve, restore and operate, as a permanent public exhibition and museum, locomotives, rolling stock, equipment machinery and relics of historical operational and general interest and educational value with particular reference to the former Great Western Railway and its successors following the nationalisation of the railways in 1948 and also to collect, make available for public reference and publish information concerning the history, equipment and operation of the former Great Western and other railways ... The Great Western Society has local groups which organise meetings and events in the Bristol, Oxford, South West (Torbay), Swindon and Taunton areas. The Groups also support the Society by undertaking practical work at Didcot or locally and through the vital elements of fundraising and local publicity.'

LECTURES and TALKSRegular Programme

'We are the IET and we inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world. As a diverse home across engineering and technology, we share knowledge that helps make better sense of the world in order to solve the challenges that matter. It’s why we are uniquely placed to champion engineering ... Local Networks are groups of members that come together to deliver a series of activities designed to promote the importance of science, engineering and technology to the general public, encourage young people to enter the profession and provide opportunities for engineers to share and develop knowledge and network with each other.''

'Local Nature Partnerships (LNPs) are partnerships of a broad range of local organisations, businesses and people who aim to help bring about improvements in their local natural environment.' (NOTE There does not seem to be a readily accessible official list with Website Links of current English Partnerships. However, I have prepared Records within the relevant Localities for the 'live' English Partnership Websites I have discovered so far.)

'The United Kingdom currently boasts the largest national aerospace industry in Europe and the second largest in the World. The Royal Aeronautical Society has a large number of branches serving all the major hubs of aerospace activity throughout the UK, represented by a diverse range of members from technical, military, and enthusiast backgrounds.'

LECTURES and TALKSRegular Programme

'The Society was founded in 1981, with a membership of over 1,500 people worldwide. We aim to provide contacts between members by regular meetings and through the quarterly Journal published in January, April, July and October. Members not only research their ancestors by name but, by using all available information, seek to build up a complete picture of the people in the setting in which they lived. As the Society consists of a friendly mixture of complete beginners and experienced family historians there is every opportunity for beginners to receive encouragement in their researches ... Meetings are held at six centres around the county. These meetings are open to all: if you live in the area or are just visiting why not pop in and discuss any family history related problems or just enjoy the evening?'
