A-Z LECTURES and CATEGORIES

Local Society: Reigate

'The Society was formed in 1951 with the main aim of tracing, recording and disseminating information on all aspects of Horley and its surrounding villages in Surrey. Members have differing levels of involvement – some carry out research into topics with the intention of publishing their results while others are content to enjoy the monthly speakers and activities ... We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month (except August) ... This usually takes the form of an illustrated talk on a subject relating to local history or a more generalised historical event.'

LECTURES and TALKS2021 Programme

'British beekeeping is unusual in that it is mostly undertaken by enthusiastic amateurs. The main organisation supporting this is the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). The BBKA is made up of area associations. Surrey Beekeepers Association (SBKA) is one of the largest area associations. It was founded in 1879 ... and has over 1000 members. Beekeeping is organised at a local level and area associations are broken down into smaller divisions. Within SBKA, we have eight local divisions covering the whole of Surrey. Most activities are organised by the local divisions.'
