'French Clubs affiliated to and with talks supported by Alliance Française de Londres. Please note that admission to events organised by French Circles are entirely a matter for them and the Alliance Francaise de Londres is not responsible for or involved in admission policies to events.' (Note I have added a small number of Localities hosting 'French Clubs' but not referenced in the AFL List at the time of Review.)

'Here at ABKA we work hard to raise the profile of beekeeping and support local beekeepers. Our objective is to promote the craft of beekeeping and promote the importance of bees. We are affiliated with the BBKA (British Beekeeping Association) and are an umbrella organisation for our network of five local beekeeping branches.'

'The Bath Astronomers are a group of local Somerset amateur astronomers sharing a passion for observing the night and daytime sky ... We hold regular monthly meet-ups for informal talks about astronomy (and occasionally other things!) on the last Wednesday of the month. We also enjoy the monthly Herschel Society Lectures which are focused towards the science of astronomy and the history of those involved. All with an interest in astronomy are welcome from beginners to old hands.'

'An active and flourishing organisation with about 50 enthusiastic members whose ages range from 17 to 90. Our membership includes every type of geologist from recreational fossil-hunters to academic and professional geologists ... Most of our meetings takes the form of a lecture which is always very professional, up-to-date and invariably entertaining. The lectures are varied and given by geologists from University Departments or from industry. We hold regular field meetings and sometimes there is an annual field-weekend in an agreeable locality.'

'Where else can you see a world class speaker for as little as £2.00? Since 1824, the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution has hosted almost nightly lectures and created wonderful exhibitions and cultural events for the people of Bath. Thanks to the power of digital technology, BRLSI’s lectures and exhibitions now reach audiences across the globe, whilst at the same time keeping its home crowd happily entertained in the Elwin Room. Whether you are interested in Shakespeare or Shamanism, meteorites or Mexican murals, there is always something on the BRLSI lecture and exhibition programme to suit all tastes.'

'Formed in 1975, the Bristol & Avon Family History Society supports contact between members with regular meetings and a quarterly Journal. We assist members with problems encountered during research work. The society promotes and encourages the public study of family history, genealogy and associated interests. Like most other family history societies, BAFHS is run by enthusiastic volunteers.'

'We inspire, enable and encourage people to get involved with history, whether in the classroom, at college, in the library or at home. We passionately believe the study of history should be accessible to all people at all levels of study ... The Historical Association is an active organisation with events happening up and down the UK. The local branches all have a lively lecture programme open to both members of the association and any general member of the public wishing to come along.'

LECTURES and TALKSRegular Programme

'Groups which meet and converse in the UK and beyond, usually gathering once every month. The event was founded in London, UK by Dr Scott Campbell in 1999, for all those interested in science, history, psychology, philosophy, investigative journalism and how to examine extraordinary claims of all types. A speaker (or number of speakers) is invited each month to present a topic of interest, which is followed by a discussion in a relaxed and friendly pub atmosphere.'
