Open Lectures & Talks'The society started in 1982 when a group of women wanted to continue to meet and share their interest in embroidery after forming a friendship during their City and Guilds embroidery course. They also wanted to introduce others to the many delights of embroidery. The society has developed its interests since that time, and now encompasses all forms of textile art, both modern and traditional. To keep abreast of new techniques we invite well known and progressive artists to speak to the group each month.'

Open Lectures & Talks'The Yorkshire Branch has been in existence for 50 years, and is the oldest Branch of the Richard III Society. It was formed in 1960 at the time of two important 500th Anniversaries, Wakefield (1460) and Towton (1461) were being commemorated. Members of the recently reformed Richard III Society living in York and the Three Ridings decided to organise some local activities here, in the county which Richard himself had known and loved ... About twenty years ago another Yorkshire Branch tradition began, our Spring Lecture, an annual event which is open to the public.' Latest Date 7 May 2011.
