Incorporating The Breconshire Railway Society: 'The Society was established in November 1970 by, among others, Huw Phillips, John Beardsmore and Harry Rawlins, with some of the original founder members still active in the Society today. About half the members worked in the railways or heavy industry in South Wales, with the others from a wide variety of backgrounds. In the early days there were around 40-50 members and today membership stands at around 70, all united in an enthusiasm for steam railway traction ... The Society provides members with a forum for monthly meetings and the quarterly Society magazine The Coal Tank, both of which are of a high standard and worth trying for yourself'.

'Abergavenny Camera Club is made up of a group of photography enthusiasts who meet every other Monday ... where events from the programme happen throughout the year. Our ethos is to have fun and learn in a friendly, social environment ... We deliberately cater for all skills and interests and keep a relaxed and open style. While we run and join in with various other competitions, we focus first on learning and enjoying the pleasures of photography.'

'We are a local volunteer-run charity, formed in 1948 to explore and promote the remarkable history of the town and to keep an eye on new developments ... In normal times, we meet on the third Wednesday of each month (except August and December) ... to hear a talk of local and/or historical interest, and hear about changes in the town and surrounding area. The Society is a friendly and socially active group, and welcomes new members.  As well as meeting regularly, we also organise tours and excursions.'

We are proud to have such a dedicated membership and would love to see our Society continue to grow with members all across the county. As a GOS member you will be supporting a Society which works for the protection of birds and their habitats in Gwent.' Indoor Meetings 'A fortnightly programme from September through to Easter, featuring an invited speaker. The meetings ... provide an opportunity to chat informally with like-minded people while enjoying tea and biscuits. Non-members are welcome.'
