'Every year Cardiff Metropolitan University hosts a series of inaugural lectures delivered by Professors newly appointed to the University. This provides our new Professors with an opportunity to share their research with a broad audience, including members of the public, in the presence of family, invited friends and colleagues. All lectures are open to the public and free to attend.'

'The largest centre of expertise on Africa outside Africa. Founded in 1965 at SOAS, University of London, where its administration is still based, since 1991 the Centre has assumed formal responsibility for co-ordinating, stimulating and promoting interdisciplinary study, research and discussion on Africa within the University; and promoting a wider awareness of African issues.'
