‘Our branch - which is based in Greenock - was founded in the summer of 1965 ... A busy river, bustling Glasgow docks and many thriving merchant shipbuilding yards all now seem just a distant memory. On the positive side, though, the container revolution has brought us the Greenock Ocean Terminal, and the leisure boom has resulted in ever-larger cruise ships calling at Greenock in increasing numbers.‘ The Branch meets ‘Thursday, September to April at 19.30 hrs. The Stationers' Company is the City of London Livery Company for the Communications and Content Industries  ... The majority of our members work in, or supply, the paper, print, publishing, packaging, office products, newspaper, broadcasting and online media industries.‘

‘Membership of the Society is open to members of the medical profession and pharmacists. Others working in fields associated with medicine may also be considered ... You must be recommended for membership by a member of the Court of Assistants or two of the Society’s Freemen who know you well ... The Society runs a full social dining and meeting programme, and the Livery Committee organises monthly visits and events, all of which are restricted to members of the Society. In addition, the Faculties hold a series of Eponymous Lectures and buffet suppers that are open to the public.‘

'Writing on the Wall is a dynamic, Liverpool-based community organisation that coordinates projects and events that celebrate writing in all its forms. We work with a broad and inclusive definition of writing that embraces literature, creative writing, journalism and non-fiction, poetry, songwriting, and storytelling. Writing on the Wall works with local, national and international writers whose work provokes controversy and debate. We work with all of Liverpool’s communities to promote and celebrate individual and collective creativity. Writing on the Wall hosts a month long annual writing festival each May.'

'The Trust, which is independent of religious or cultural affiliations, exists to promote dialogue between people with a wide range of political and religious opinions and from different cultural and professional backgrounds. It aims to address European and world issues, not just from a political or economic perspective, but also from the point of view of values and beliefs and to inform public opinion and to influence those who shape policy in the UK, Europe and the wider world. WPCT arranges 2 major lectures each year.  The Charlemagne Lecture (held in spring / summer) focuses on European issues, while the Corbishley Lecture in the autumn tackles aspects of the ethics of international policy.  Additional topical events are also arranged periodically.'
