The Institute has a large number of Divisions and Groups which 'provide opportunities for engineers to develop their knowledge, status and professionalism in a wide variety of technical areas; while acting as a source of high quality information and advice to individuals, academia, industry and Government': see the Section 'Industries and Specialisms' within 'Knowledge'. The lectures offered by these Divisions and Groups can usually be traced alongside the programmes of the Institute's geographically-based branches, many cited separately herein.

'As a committee, we arrange up to 10 events per year, including lectures, factory visits and social outings. All activities are carried out jointly with the IET and we welcome both members and non members who have an interest in engineering. We try to arrange a programme to cater for all tastes but always welcome new ideas.'
