'B&DHS offers the local community a forum for enjoying all aspects of British history, including the very rich local history of the Battle and eastern Sussex. Founded in 1950 as part of Battle’s contribution to the Festival of Britain, the Society features a year-round series of lectures, occasional excursions, a small research group devoted to local history and a reading group. Our lecture programme has a long tradition of attracting first class speakers ... If you have recently moved to the Battle area or are just visiting and would like to come to one of our meetings, just come along, you will be very welcome.'

'The primary purpose of Bexhill Museum is to collect, conserve, display and interpret objects and information related to the history and natural environment of our surrounding area. This work is undertaken for the benefit of the public and, in particular, the residents of Bexhill and district, local schools & colleges and visitors to the 1066 Country area.

Founded 1984: 'We have about 90 members in total, providing a wide range of backgrounds, interests, professions and ages. We have a calendar of meetings starting with our monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from October to April. We invite speakers to talk on a wide variety of Earth Science topics.'
