'Built between 1903 and 1905 Voewood is, quite simply, a masterpiece - a violently idiosyncratic house reminiscent of Gaudis work in Barcelona. One of only three butterfly houses in Norfolk, so called because of the central body and wings, the house combines concrete, flint and stone to stunning visual and architectural effect and is testament to the skill of the local craftsmen who were responsible for its creation. In the true arts and crafts way the house literally grew out of the land on which it is built with much of the material being quarried from what is now a sunken garden ...

'During the Festival the house becomes a home to countless writers, artists and musicians who are accommodated in its 14 bedrooms. Outside, the festival takes place in earnest with events, Masterclasses, readings and interviews taking place simultaneously in gorgeous marquees across the grounds ...'
