'The Society, as the Market Drayton Railway Preservation Society, was established on 1st January 1992 when the concept was launched to try to restore part or all of the former Nantwich to Market Drayton Railway as far north as Cox Bank on the outskirts of Audlem, about 4 miles of track. Until 1967 this had been a double track through line, of Great Western Railway vintage, from Wellington (Telford West) to Crewe. The name change to the Nantwich & Market Drayton Railway Society took effect from the 1st January 2010.'
