'The village of Gamlingay is one of the best documented in England. While traces of earlier settlements have been found, the origins of the village are Saxon. Gamlingay is mentioned in Doomsday, but in the twelfth century an Oxford college began to acquire land in the parish, and from this point primary sources abound.

'Gamlingay and District History Society was formed in 1992, and exists to celebrate this history, as well as promote interest in history generally.'
