'Gainsborough Old Hall is a unique medieval manor house right in the centre of Gainsborough. Sir Thomas Burgh built it between 1460 and 1480 and it remains much as he left it, to the delight of thousands of visitors each year. The Friends were formed in 1949 to save the building from decay, and to open it to the public.

'Although the Old Hall is now owned by English Heritage and managed by Lincolnshire County Council, the Friends still have an active role to play. Friends are involved in all aspects of the Old Hall from guiding parties and catering, to behind the scenes work. There is also an active programme of social events for Friends ...'
